First I'll share my list where I keep all the hardware I use for different portable monitor setups. I'll reference a few of these by name later on:
https://amzn.to/4dE4AR2
So the basic setup is
Clamp or Tripod + Arm (or arm and extender) + 360 Ballhead + Vesa adapter plate
First, the cheap all in one option is a Ulanzi desk tripod. Extends to different heights, has a ball head on the end and screws right into the adapter plate. But, I own this, it's not the most stable setup, hahaha. It'll work if you balance things correctly. But you could buy this one thing and the VESA adapter and be done.
Now if you wanted to mix and match parts, There are a few different optional things, like whether or not you want an extender tube... or an extender tube that is adjustable. Or maybe you want a 360 ballhead on the end of your arm so you can clamp your rig in places, but be able to change the angle of the monitor without loosening the whole thing. Also depends how much you want to spend, or how portable you want this to be XD
Here is a step up from the plastic all in one option.
Metal desk tripod: https://amzn.to/4mkTouM
1/4" extension tube for heigh adjustment: https://amzn.to/4mpZDxC
A ball head of your choice to connecting the vesa adapter to the tripod+tube. You can go really cheap with something like this https://amzn.to/4mpZDxC or my personal favorite is the DSLR field monitor mount. https://amzn.to/4voIubB It lets you freely adjust the angle without having to loosen or tighten anything, and it has a locking pin to prevent accidental rotation
If I know I have something to clamp to, the VIVO universal C clamp is my favorite clamp by far. Comes in a two pack, has both 1/4 and 3/8 screw holes, supports flat desk and pole mounting. I have so many of them.
As far as tripods, It's hard because the more adjustability you want, the larger they get. So I usually recommend getting a small low profile tripod, an adjustable height tube, and a cheap ball head to put on the end. These aren't on my list I think so i'll link below.
